My Rating: 4/5
SPOILERS… LOTS OF SPOILERS
This was the first episode in this year’s crossover event and it was pretty good! Firstly, I would like to say I loved the little hints at other universes like with the Titans and an old Robin at the beginning – also we saw Wil Wheaton for a scene which was fun. I am glad they didn’t milk that too much and focused on the story for most of the episode.
Let’s talk about Oliver. I am sure that there are a lot of people who believe he is not really dead. The fact that this eventuality is not the one the Monitor saw means that anything is possible again… As sad as I was to see him go, I think that he needs to be dead for the other heros to push harder than ever to save the multiverse. Also, his sacrifice for saving so many people (1 billion extra I believe) would mean less if he didn’t die. This season of Arrow has been incredible! It’s a great way to end Oliver’s journey. I look forward to the next stage with Mia and William.
We obviously have a long way to go in this crossover event so we still know very little. We learn at the end that Nash/Pariah is the one who released the anti-monitor from his prison, but there is nothing more to that part of the story for now. We don’t know how the anti-monitor can be defeated. There was a large thing that kept the antimatter at bay in National City (I don’t remember it’s name so if anyone does, please let me know!) but that was destroyed with relative ease by the anti-monitor’s minions.
The large battle at the end was pretty good, even considering the small budget of the TV channel. I hope they don’t do one every episode though, because it will get very boring quickly! I hope there are more interesting ways of having a big, dramatic scene at the end of the episodes.
That’s all I have to say for now. I will be reviewing the rest of the episodes in the crossover event because this is something I have been looking forward to for a while!
