Bilbo’s Last Song by J. R. R. Tolkien: Book Review

“Farewell to

Middle-Earth at Last,

I see the star

above your mast!”

Bilbo’s Last Song is considered by many to be Tolkien’s epilogue to his classic work The Lord of the Rings. As Bilbo Baggins takes his final voyage to the Undying Lands, he must say goodbye to Middle-earth. Poignant and lyrical, the song is both a longing to set forth on his ultimate journey and a tender farewell to friends left behind. -Goodreads

My Review

My Rating: 5/5

A beautiful farewell from Bilbo, one that is only enhanced by the incredible illustrations in this book. There isn’t much to say as it is so short, except that you shouldn’t skip over it if you’re a fan of The Lord of The Rings or The Hobbit. Having only just finished rereading The Hobbit, this feels so much more emotional. Just lovely.
