About six months ago, I decided to jump into the deep end and write a children’s book. A few months later, I had written a chapter book full of adventure, friendship, and new worlds.
I loved fantasy books growing up, but there was never something like Harry Potter or The Wardstone Chronicles for me to read when I was under 10. I wrote this book because it is something I would have wanted to read at that age.
I soon found, to my surprise, that my experiment had turned into a huge project. It was during the planning phase for the first book that I realised there was so much more the world had to offer. Because of this I ended up planning 8 books, and I don’t think that’s the end of it either.
I had so much fun creating and writing this world that I’m not sure that I will ever stop. The possibilities with the current characters are copious enough, but there are also endless prequel ideas to be discovered!
“Thrust into a world where his uncle’s magic wands, staffs, and spell-books are real, Oliver Beele finds himself battling fearsome Krawlers (creatures from another world) and protecting the planet he knows and loves. Along for the ride is his friend Tam and a strange woman called Betty. Together they must push the krawler infestation back into the world they come from. Can they stop the infestation or is all lost before it has even begun?”
Oliver and Tam are two of my favourite characters that I have worked with to date, and there are a few more that have been planned in to later books who I am excited to follow.
I hope that you will take a look and see if it interests you – or maybe you know of someone who will. It’s a fun story with magic, monsters, and entirely new and exciting worlds to explore.
